Talent Strategy: The Conscious Entrepreneur

Jim Collins, author of Good to Great, talks about getting the right people on the bus.  That can be a tall order for an entrepreneur who may still be an adolescent, as author Ron Ernst terms it.

Ernst is a former management consultant from Pricewaterhouse Coopers who founded his own consulting practice,Leadership Horizons, several years ago to work with entrepreneurial company who were "stuck" and unable to reach Stage 3 Growth.

Ron's latest book, The Conscious Entrepreneur, (available through Amazon) discusses what the seasoned, but adolescent, entrepreneur can do to spur him or herself to Conscious Growth or Stage Three Growth.

While Jim Collins recommends getting the right people on the bus first, an entrepreneur may feel more comfortable committing to salaried staff and a recruiting strategy once the point of Conscious Growth has been realized.  An entrepreneur who can articulate a well thought out growth plan will be much more successful with talent recruitment and in implementing a talent acquisition strategy.

The Conscious Entrepreneur was recently distributed to "50 Companies to Watch" finalists by Nate Feltman, CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.  You can also read about propelling your company and your talent strategy to Stage 3 Growth by visiting Ron's blog at stage3growth.wordpress.com.
